In these uncertain times, many business owners may be feeling anxious about the future. Within five minutes of tuning in to the news, you’re probably convinced you need to downsize everything to survive the impending recession.
You’re constantly being told that now is the time to manage your cash flow, eliminate unnecessary costs, cut employee hours, and, according to Forbes.com “be prepared because in a recession, everyone struggles financially.”
While some cost-cutting measures may be necessary, I’m here to offer a different perspective.
The fact is many humans are struggling right now.
Which is exactly why this is not the time for you to shrink your practice and downsize your business.
People need the care you offer more than ever right now.
They need your unwavering support, light, and healing.
What you should be doing in a recession is getting grounded in who you are, the gifts you bring to this world, and how you can continue to show up for yourself and for others in love and service.
To shrink yourself and play small because of a recession is to give your power away.
The economy does not determine your success.
You determine your success.
Purpose + Value = Thriving Practice
When you wholeheartedly believe in yourself, are willing to take action, be adaptable and resourceful, be guided and learn, and lead in service to your community, you and your business will thrive.
So instead of focusing on all the ways you could be downsizing, focus on all the ways you bring value to your patients’ lives.
Focus on your purpose. Reconnect daily with your vision for yourself and your practice. Use this as the guiding force (not the news).
You can be a lighthouse in the storm, inviting people to gather for fun, partnering with others, and empowering your patients with tools to navigate the stresses of these times.
-
Focus on your own self-care so you can show up ready to serve the souls in front of you.
-
Invest in your team training and work on your office culture so you have a team that stays with you and builds your business through these times.
-
Talk to your patients and ask them about how chiropractic care has changed their lives. Provide regular opportunities for them to refer their friends and family to you.
Ultimately, we all have a choice to make. We can give away our power and succumb to fear and uncertainty, or we can show up with courage, conviction, and hope.
Let us focus on what we can control, rather than what we cannot, and continue to offer our gifts to the world.
